BAATN Gathering

Kuli Dhal Puri Diaspora Gathering

This group is for therapists whose heritage is Asian or mixed Asian with indenture ancestry.

Bi-monthly ⋅ Online

This group is for therapists whose heritage is Asian or mixed Asian with indenture ancestry.

The Indian indenture system was active between 1838 to 1917, after the abolition of slavery. The system used Indian labourers to continue wealth productivity in British and other European Occupied Colonies for the metropole. In present day context, people across the globe are bound together by this indenture experience, often sharing language and culture despite being geographically distant from one another.

Here is just a few of the countries Indentured people were taken to Fiji, Mauritius, Ceylon, Trinidad, Reunion, Guyana, Malaysia, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa.

This peer support group will provide a space to learn, connect and examine the effects of indentured heritage on the community today.
