This edition of the podcast features a conversation with Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga who is an Integrative Transcultural Psychotherapist, Reiki practitioner, trainer, and supervisor. She is also author of ā€˜Black Issues in the Therapeutic Processā€™ and ā€˜In Search of Mr Mckenzieā€™. She gives us a very intimate and personal narrative of her life as a child in care and her life as a young woman fighting to keep her baby from adoption and from having the life she had in care. She then goes on to talk about her experience of finding her voice during her training as a counsellor and later when she became the trainer coming to the realisation that white people hurt too in this space. She also talks about her book, which is about the process of dialogue around black issues as well as her future projects.
