Umaa Thampu
Umaa Thampu, Dip Couns, MBACP (Accred), daughter of யாழ்ப்பாணம் (Jaffna), is an internationally practicing Gestalt therapist. She respects Indigenous ways of working and integrates various therapeutic approaches, from systemic family constellation work to trauma-informed, embodied work with individuals, couples, and groups. Her path into therapy began as a volunteer at an LGBTQIA+ charity in Sydney, where she was inspired by the people she met.
Umaa has contributed a chapter, The Power of a Name, to the BAATN anthology Therapy in Colour, and she spends her time between Jaffna and London, writing, educating, and facilitating workshops.
Currently, she enjoys disrupting fixed gestalts, being in private practice, and exploring creativity with friends and family. You can contact her on TikTok or Instagram @talk2Umaa.
