Hiring: Therapist £30,000pa (pro rata) 2 days

Who we are:-

Young Futures is committed to helping care experienced young people overcome adversity and trauma and build happy, meaningful lives. We support the difficult transition to adulthood and independent living by providing aspirational accommodation which is fully integrated with practical and therapeutic support i.e. one-to-one key working, counselling, art and dramatherapy, sports, social and cultural activities.

The job:-

Using your skills as a therapist you will manage a caseload of clients across our community settings and in our 9 bed residential unit in both 121 therapy and group work. You will have experience of offering warm reflective staff support or supervision spaces and will be dynamic in your presence and delivery. As a creative practitioner you will be comfortable facilitating reflective team spaces.

Do you have:-

Experience of working with hard to reach young people, (particularly care experienced) and engaging them in spaces outside of the traditional therapy room
An approach that is warm, empathic, boundaried and congruent where building an alliance is at the heart of your work
The ability to evaluate and report on your work in a timely manner using unique and specific models to evidence your practice
The ability to be flexible, intuitive, creative  and pro-active in your contributions with energy and drive to create new projects and push forward other people‘s ideas
The capability to work online and use platforms such as Whatsapp, Zoom, Facetime to communicate with clients and staff teams alike
Experience of supporting staff in secondary trauma offering safe spaces to reflect on the impact of frontline work
Experience of safeguarding (particularly children) and understanding risk, with knowledge of confidentially protocols in a therapeutic context

Context and approach:-

​There are 75,000 young people in care in the UK and they are among the most disadvantaged in society, most having suffered serious abuse or trauma in early life:

The rate of mental health disorders among 5-15 year olds is 10% for the general population, rising to 72% for those in residential care
25% of both the homeless and prison populations are care leavers
​40% are NEET (not in education, employment or training)
