Job Description
Are you an experienced mental health or social care worker with a recognised professional qualification working in a mental health setting? Have you considered training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)?

FCS Talking Therapies are working in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University and are looking to recruit 6 Trainee CBT High Intensity Therapists as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy programme. The University train individuals to deliver evidence based psychological therapies for people with anxiety and depression whilst being employed to deliver these services within FCS IAPT Talking Therapies.

Practitioners applying here will be applying for the one year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Intervention (CBT) based at Canterbury Christ Church University, Tunbridge Wells campus at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology. Successful applicants will be attending 2 days per week at the University and 3 days per week in FCS Talking Therapy Service delivering CBT treatments. Once qualified we would expect you to continue on a permanent contract if this is available within the service.

Eligibility for this training post:

Candidates should have a BABCP recognised core professional training and provide qualification and registration documents as proof at interview. These professions include:

·       Psychology – 1st degree plus a post-graduate qualification (MSc or Doctorate) in an applied area such as clinical, educational, counselling, health psychology (forensic if has applied content). HPC Registered as Practitioner  Psychologist (HPC registration alone insufficient)

·       Registered Nurse – Mental Health (RMN), Learning Disability etc. (general nursing and enrolled nursing is insufficient)

·       Medicine –  Psychiatric and General Practitioner MBChB or MBBS and usually PG training with membership of MRCGP, MRCP or MRCPsych

·       Occupational Therapy – BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, MSc Occupational Therapy, or Dip C.O.T and HPC Registered

·       Arts Therapist (HPC Registered)

·       Counselling – Accredited with the BACP, COSCA, or FDAP (NCAC), UKCP or Registered Member CPC

·       Social Work – CQSW, DipSW or BA/BSc Hons Social Work

·       Probation Services – DipPS

·       Teacher of Special Education/Needs – Cert Ed CertEd, B.Ed, or BA/BSc with PGCE, plus additional specialist training in Special Education, with additional counselling / psychotherapy training

Applicants without a core profession (such as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners or Counsellors without UKCP or BACP accreditation) must be able to meet the required KSA criteria (see the BABCP website for more information).

Please note that applications from Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners must demonstrate at least two years post-graduate experience.  We support the fair chance initiative for applicants without IAPT experience.

We are based in Faversham Kent. Currently due to Covid-19 we are working remotely. There is an ongoing review of this as Government guidelines change and we are responsive to the changes.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have a special interest in services for older adults, long-term health conditions, the BAME population and trauma.

The post holder will need to possess a high level of IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams.

The successful candidate will join an established team working to maintain our IAPT Service’s excellent reputation within our local areas.
