Poppy Banerjee has been practicing as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist since 1994. She has been involved as a consultant with various voluntary and statutory organisations developing services that are focusing on domestic violence, forced marriage, self-harm and any other social issues affecting the community.
She has been instrumental in setting up and developing counselling services specifically for Asian Women (mental health, students and domestic violence services, including the counselling services in the East End of London – Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham).
In 1995 Poppy has initiated and developed a national forum for Asian counsellors and professionals working in the counselling & mental health field (Asian Mental Health Forum) and facilitated as chair for number of years.
She is also an active leadership group member of BAATN (Black, African and Asian Therapist Network) and currently facilitating Women’s practitioners group and students support group focusing on race and culture.
Poppy has a small private practice offering clinical supervision.
