Open Practitioner Event
Release & Restoration: Courage, Care, and Healing in the Face of Islamophobia
Date: Thursday 12th February 2026
Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Venue: Online via Zoom
Outline
Open to all BPOC counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists who identify as Muslim practising and non practising.
Nafeesa Javed & Stephen Abdullah Maynard invite you to a dedicated space for Muslim therapists who are navigating the personal and professional impact of the current climate of Islamophobia.
This gathering offers a space to pause, release, and restore to share what we are carrying, reflect on the realities of working as Muslim caregivers, and explore how we hold our own fears, grief, and resilience in the face of ongoing hostility and discrimination.
The focus of this session is not political debate, but collective care: a supportive, restorative space where we can bear witness to one another’s experiences and nurture courage, faith, and healing together.
BAATN recognises the deep psychological, emotional, and spiritual toll that Islamophobia continues to have on Muslim therapists and their communities. We call on employers, educators, and professional bodies to stand firm against Islamophobia, racism, and discrimination, and to ensure that Muslim practitioners, trainees, and students are supported and protected in their workplaces, training environments, and beyond.
