Background and summary of the job:

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy and Counselling Service offers low-cost, long-term Counselling and Psychotherapy. Sessions are provided by Trainee Counsellors/Psychotherapist registered on a Minster Centre Training Courses. These courses are professionally accredited by BACP and UKCP. The Clinical Assessment of potential clients plays a vital role in both assessing the suitability of applicants to be accepted as clients and the matching of clients to our student therapists. We offer both face-to-face and on-line therapy with an emphasis on face-to-face.

Clinical Assessors can expect to complete in the region of 8 – 10 Assessments per month. Ideally these should be conducted face-to-face at our Clinic based in Queen’s Park, but arrangements for on-line assessments are sometimes possible. Accordingly, applicants should have the means of conducting on-line assessments in place in an environment which is confidential and free from interruptions. It is also necessary that the assessor has access to a Zoom account that has the ability to facilitate assessments beyond fifty minutes, as assessments generally should last up to 90 minutes.

We are currently seeking to recruit Clinical Assessors on a self-employed basis, and we are offering £53.35 per completed assessment. Each assessment typically takes an hour or a little longer. The £53.35 fee also includes the completion and submission of the Assessment Report. Any potential assessor should expect the volume of assessments to increase or decrease at any given point throughout the year according to client enquiries and therefore, the suggested 8 – 10 assessments per month is according to client need.

Main Duties:

Facilitating and Completing MCPCS Client Assessments and submitting reports.

Key Tasks:

  • Accepting client assessments as required, promptly contacting the client , facilitating the Assessment meeting and submitting the Assessment Report to the MCPCS co-ordinator within ten days of the assessment.
  • Liaising with the MCPCS co-ordinator in respect to your availability to conduct assessments, one month in advance.
  • Advising on potential Safeguarding Issues following an assessment.
  • Advising on the suitability of clients for acceptance by the MCPCS as outlined in MCPOCS Policies.
  • There may be occasional attendance at Minster Centre meetings for which a fee of £29.40 per hour can be claimed.

Note: The post holder is expected to comply with all relevant Minster Centre policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection Act, and clinical governance including research governance.

The postholder is required to comply with requirements of the relevant national registering body to ensure continued registration.

Full details of specific responsibilities and person specification are outlined in the job description which can be found on the Minster Centre website.
