The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

The Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects the wide range of backgrounds represented in the communities we serve. With this in mind, we would welcome and encourage applications from all sections of the community.

The Early Years Programme is a nationally and internationally renowned area of work at the Centre, focusing on innovative and specialist psychotherapeutic approaches for families with babies and pre-school children in universal, targeted and specialist areas of work.

The Senior Therapist and Parent Infant Interventions Lead is a new role within the Early Years Programme supporting our work related to parental and infant mental health, including our Mind the Dad service and Think Baby training, supervision and intervention projects.

The successful candidate will be an experienced psychologist or psychotherapist with clinical expertise in the parent-infant relationship and experience in facilitating and supervising therapeutic group work. The post-holder will manage a small team of qualified and prequalified therapists whilst carrying their own caseload. They will support various CPD and postgraduate training projects within the Early Years Programme, depending on their expertise and interests, including being a reflective practice and/or training discussion seminar leader on our new one-year Parent Infant Interventions course, and being a seminar leader on our new MSc Early Child Development and Clinical Applications.

The post-holder will be home-based/remote, both due to the virtual nature of the project and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In the future there will be the possibility of attending team meetings in person at the Anna Freud Centre, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH.
