We are seeking a self-employed female sessional psychotherapist or counsellor, to work with women who have a history of trauma and social exclusion, living in SHP’s women accommodation projects in East London. This is a 12 month pilot project contract funded by BUPA.

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London – from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

As a Sessional Counsellor, you will provide one-to-one psychotherapy to female clients, many of whom will have emotional, psychological and/or mental health problems and/or substance use issues.  You will be carrying out 12 sessions a week to clients or 6 sessions and 2 psycho-ed groups, which will include assessments and attending supervision.

You will also refer clients to other healthcare professionals and liaise with them when appropriate. Monitor and evaluate client’s response to psychotherapy and provide verbal and written reports on cases.

To be successful, you will be UKCP registered/BACP accredited with experience of assessment and ensuring psychotherapy applies therapeutic interventions, which have a gender trauma informed/psychosocial understanding of mental distress. You will also be able to produce detailed written report and use a database to maintain clinical records.  Experience of facilitating groups would be advantageous
