SARSAS are pleased to announce that we now have placements available to counselling / psychotherapy students starting in September 2024.

Hours: 4 clients a week during a 6-hour block (Monday to Friday only)
Location: SARSAS offices in Bristol or Taunton
Closing date: midnight on Monday 29th of July 2024

What we can offer you:
– 4 in-person counselling/psychotherapy clients a week
– up to 2 hours of supervision a month (depending on course requirements)

– monthly line management with the Counselling Manager / Counselling Coordinator
– access to our in-house training on working with sexual violence
mandatory training on safeguarding, Health & Safety and GDPR
– a supportive, caring and friendly working environment.

About you:
– You will be a counselling or psychotherapy student in your second or third year of training.
– Your training will be accredited by a UK professional body such as BACP, HCPC, UKPC, and NCS.
– You will have an understanding of how rape and sexual abuse may impact our clients or previous experience working with victim-survivors of sexual violence.
– You will have experience working or volunteering within health care, mental health, domestic abuse, or substance misuse settings, or equivalent experience elsewhere.
– You will have a knowledge of safeguarding legislation and experience in following organisational safeguarding processes.
– It will also be useful for you to have had your own personal therapy.
– You will ideally have had experience of clinical supervision – group, peer or individual.
– We ask for a commitment of at least one year in placement.

About SARSAS:
SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress and help rebuild the lives of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives. We campaign and educate to raise awareness and bring an end to sexual violence. Partnership work with a variety of agencies locally and nationally is a priority to enable social change.
