Job Description and Applicant Requirements

An opportunity has arisen to work in an exciting and dynamic service providing psychological interventions and stepped care treatment to people with common mental health problems in primary care as part of the National Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). We are looking for people who have the energy, enthusiasm and skills to join our team who are committed to making a difference within the FCS Talking Therapies Service in the Faversham community. The service has been well established providing a stepped care, evidenced-based model for the treatment of people with common mental health problems. You will be hard-working and able to meet specified targets in order to deliver a high quality IAPT service to the local population. This is an opportunity to join FCS as an established Psychological Therapist in Kent.

Applicants will need to have a recognised professional qualification to diploma level in counselling or psychotherapy, membership of and accreditation with a relevant professional body, and be eager to make a career in IAPT. They will also need to have extensive experience of treating patients within a time limited counselling model. Experience of telephone or online working would be helpful.

Applicants must be BACP or UKCP accredited and hold an additional IAPT qualification. We welcome applications from applicants who have completed the CfD, IPT, EMDR, Couples or DIT IAPT Training.
Applicants who do not hold an additional IAPT qualification must be willing to undertake training and achieve certification in an IAPT approved module within 12 months.

You will receive support and supervision from the Senior Psychological Therapists, Clinical Lead and Line Manager and will play an active role in the continued service development for FCS Talking Therapies.

We are a Kent based charity with 20 years’ experience of providing psychological therapy services. If you join us, you will be part of a team of multi-professional IAPT workforce: PWPs, CBT/EMDR/DIT/LTC, Couples Therapists and Counsellors who aim to significantly increase access to treatment for people with depression, anxiety and other common mental health conditions, including those with Long Term conditions, in a variety of community settings. FCS IAPT Talking Therapy Service is a client focused, pro-active community based provider and has strong links with both GP’s and our colleagues in secondary care mental health. We have a strong commitment to delivering high quality community oriented services, and to working in partnership with service users, carers, health and social care and voluntary agencies. We are a dynamic, supportive and creative service, who provide a high level of training and supervision to all clinical practitioners at all levels. Applicants must be willing to be flexible in their approach to work. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to complete thorough risk assessments and to manage this well.

Currently due to Covid-19 we are working remotely. We have adapted our services to enable this continued provision of psychological therapies via video platforms and through telephone work. There is an ongoing review of this as Government guidelines change and we are responsive to the changes.
