Defiance: Fighting the Far Right (Channel 4) – A reflection

Time: 6.00pm – 8.00pm
Date: Tuesday 16th July 2024
Venue: Online via Zoom

Outline

Baatn’s South Asian Narratives Group (SANG) provide an opportunity to reflect on the Channel 4’s series – Defiance: Fighting the far right.

The series delves into pivotal events ranging from the Southall protests, the death of Blair Peach, the Battle for Brick Lane, and the extraordinary story of the Bradford 12. Through archival footage and fresh testimonies, the ground breaking documentary reveals the British Asian community’s resistance against overlooked violence and injustice from 1976 to 1981. In three intense hours, “Defiance ” uncovers a chapter of British history where courage clashed with adversity, leaving a resonance through the decades.

Here is the series link for your viewing: Defiance: Fighting the Far Right. You do not have to watch the series to attend.
