On the evening of 25 May, George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man, was murdered in the U.S. city of Minneapolis by Derek Chauvin, a 44-year-old white police officer who knelt on his neck for almost 10 minutes. His murder was caught on camera by bystanders and sparked historic international protests across the world.
