DJ Dil
DJ Dil specialises in various genres, especially R&B, Afrobeats, disco 80s, house, Bollywood, Bhangra, and arab Bellydance music.
Dil works with various communities and groups and particularly loves working with elders, often bringing them to the dancefloor. Dil is known as the “dancing DJ”. She also works with stressed young brides who need support and is experienced in coordinating events that have typical community traditions, such as Mehndi’s or henna parties.
Dil is also a stand up comedian. This is not for the lighthearted as Dil is very challenging and refuses to demure and age gracefully or go into therapy of any sort. Dil started their career as an Asian girl trapped by family, especially a strict Brummie father, but wore him down after entering into social work, which they happily practised for many years.
Through tough times, the need for endurance, and a requirement to pay extortionate amounts to keep warm and fed in this country, Dil started a journey as an event DJ and entertainer. She liked the difference she made and the reception she got. People no longer set their dogs on her to maul her to death, which sometimes happened as a social worker.
