BAATN Online Dance Event – A DJ Saved My Life

According to a study conducted by the University of Oxford, dancing alongside other dancers “lights up brain pathways”. As a result of this, dancers experience a sense of unity and community.

With this in mind, why not come along and experience the unique healing power of music and dance, at this new and highly interactive BAATN online monthly gathering. 0

Many of us already know from daily experience that music can lower levels of stress, anxiety and depression, so be ready to dust off your dancing shoes and talk about your love of dance, with other like minded music lovers. 

There will also be lots of opportunities to experience the therapeutic, mental health and wellbeing benefits of sharing our experiences, making connections and insights with others, both personally and professionally.

Dennis L Carney @blackgaynproud

Dennis has been a BAATN board member for last 10 years and is a member of BAATN’s Conference Sub Committee.

Dennis has run several online dance events since lockdown and facilitated a dance workshop at the last BAATN Conference, which inspired the idea for this monthly event.

Over the last three decades, Dennis has developed and facilitated personal development workshops, that explore themes around identity, self-esteem, assertiveness, relationships and sexual health.

Dennis also works as a part-time lecturer at The City Literary Institute, and currently delivers short courses on Anger Management, Group Facilitation, Gestalt and also facilitates Personal Development Groups for counselling students. 

Dennis is the Chair of Black Connection, a social network for older Black queer men and has also received two Black LGBT Community Awards in recognition of his work with Black queer communities in the UK.”
