Open Practitioner Event

An introduction to working with Couples (Part 2)

Working with Couples is different to working with Singles

Date: Saturday 19th September 2026
Time: 10am – 4.30pm
Venue: Online via Zoom

Outline

Experience of working with Singles does not sufficiently equip therapists with the skills to transition to being able to work competently with Couples. The dynamics are very different. The Kairos Centre have created a video-on-demand Training (using videos & workbooks) for those who want to train comprehensively to work with Couples. You work through the programme at your pace. It is an accredited training course.
There is an A to Z of all the issues Couples bring into the Therapy room and approaches that can be used in working with those issues from a Therapist experienced in the modalities of Psychodynamic, Systemic, Solution Focused, TA, CBT, EMDR, Trauma Informed, Mediator – (an eclectic range to serve clients).

Although this is part 2 of this taster day, You will benefit greatly from the material yet to be covered in this part 2 and should not be deterrent because you did not attend part 1.
This part 2 will still be another one day taster and a quick tour across the subjects and issues that couples bring and which is in the full video-on-demand training.

It will provide an overview of the work and dynamics; as well as break out discussion rooms. The vast array of topics means that the trainer will be led by the delegates as to which issues to discuss in a little more depth.

The training will include a reminder of the Trainer’s approach to “Diagnosing” the issues before working with them in a collaborative approach with the couple. Then moving on to look at what the substantive work might look like. You will gain greater insight into the different dynamics of Singles versus Couples Counselling – even if the issues brought, are very similar.

Aims of the training
Equip you with insight into the difference between Couples and Singles Counselling, with the hope that you will go on to enhance your training and skills into Couples work.

Who should attend this training
Students, Counsellors, psychotherapists, holistic practitioners, coaches, social workers, health professionals and anyone who works with families and are interested in Couples work.
