Harbrinder Dhillon-Stevens
Harbrinder Dhillon-Stevens is a BPS Registered Chartered Psychologist, HPC Registered Counselling Psychologist, UKCP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist and HPC Registered Child Art Psychotherapist. She has a Doctorate in Psychotherapy; MSc Integrative Psychotherapy (Distinction), PG Dip Child Art Psychotherapy (Distinction) B.A. (Hons) in Politics; Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (C.Q.S.W.) and was Senior Lecturer on the Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Social Work at South Bank University for twelve years focusing on child care and child protection. Currently she is Senior Lecturer in Counselling, Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton. She is also Primary Tutor at the Metanoia Institute on the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (DCPsych), a joint programme between Metanoia Institute and Middlesex University (BPS Accredited, HPC Accredited and UKCP Accredited). Harbrinder has written and developed an MSc in Child Psychotherapy validated by London, South Bank University and will be run at the Metanoia Institute in 2012. Harbrinder has a private practice and undertakes training, research, supervision and therapeutic work with children, young people, adults & families. She is an expert witness in working with children and families in assessment and therapeutic treatment.
Harbrinder has published and undertaken doctoral research in Anti-Oppressive Practice and developed a Multiple Oppression Model (2004) in working with issues of oppression. Her research interests are in the field of dialogic encounters in anti-oppressive practice between therapists and clients and the implications of these on the therapeutic relationship. She has supervised several doctoral research projects in the area of difference, diversity, oppression and power. DhillonStevens Ltd. offers training and consultancy in working with issues of difference, diversity and oppression for personal, professional and organisational development.
