Narendra Keval
Narendra qualified as a Clinical Psychologist and then trained and worked as an Adult and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic, London. He has worked in the NHS for over 20 years as a Consultant in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in a range of outpatient settings, specialising in work with patients suffering from complex personality disorders. He worked at Nafsiyat with the late Jafar Kareem, providing Psychotherapy for clients from a range of ethnic communities and putting race and racism on the map of Psychotherapy training organisations. His work as a Supervisor and Trainer has taken him to Cape Town, South Africa where he was Visiting Senior Lecturer, involved in a number of projects with the universities and local communities that looked at the traumat ic impact of apartheid and racism. He was Clinical Director and Consultant Psychotherapist on the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia in 2008 and recently joined the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex as Senior Lecturer to continue his long standing interest in using psychodynamic thinking on the frontline. He also runs a private clinical and consultancy practice in London.
